Dev and I have been planning this photoshoot for years. So many ideas and versions and different locations and different states, but finally, we settled on Canon Beach in Oregon right near haystack rock. She is from Oregon and this beach has a very special meaning to her family. She showed up in her pink dress and boots and a sweater on.

We rushed down to the water in the frigid March air and she shed her layers, doing anything for the session.

We took breaks from talking and sharing and laughing so we could take the photos. I followed behind her, letting her wander and explore. She picked up her rocks and shells. She leaned back in the wind and breathed out. She smiled at the things I said.

Before we left we both stared out into the ocean and the wild, wild women in us took over and we didn’t bother to stop them. She kicked off her boots and took off running. Screaming at the cold and the rush of running into the ocean. Cold water and heavy waves and the sunshine and her.
