I invited Samantha and Ethan out to my horse pasture in Middle Tennessee to take a few hours to themselves and connect. They were so comfortable with each other, and spent the session laughing, teasing, and telling me stories about their love. Samantha is a photographer herself, and Ethan was so expressive about how proud he was of her business and work ethic. They got to take time away from work and kids and… life, to dance in a field, laugh with each other, share some spicy and tender moments. My horses made some guest appearances, trying to take all the attention, and get in some scratches. We got lucky and the rain held off until just the end of the shoot when we had an absolute downpour. I ran under a tree and, between my shirt and jacket, got my camera safe enough to keep shooting. S + E got to dance, twirl, and kiss in the rain. Romance movies can’t fake what they’ve got going on here.
I got the most wonderful compliment from them, saying my work often reminded them of old Western movies. I worked to imbue lighthearted romance, empowering sizzle, and gritty Western into this session.
