Tennessee backyard elopements. They’re incredibly intimate, authentic, and stress free. This is the safest place to delve into comfort, to fully envelope yourself in your past, your future. Home is where you can run barefoot, sip your coffee, cry by the window, and dance in the kitchen.
Home is the epicenter of nostalgia, true love, and honest connection. I know I want my own elopement to be in my backyard, and I would love to come on up to your place and give the same memories to you. Home might be messy or simple or overwhelming- home is a place of indulgence.
However, a backyard elopement doesn’t always have to be your own backyard. Home can be a person or an idea or a state of mind rather than a physical place. Airbnbs or vrbo have endless backyards that make excellent venues for a simple elopement that gives you a chance to turn your ceremony into a get away. You could have a quick ceremony in a backyard anywhere in the US, anywhere in the world, without tacking on massive price-tags or adventures or excessive planning. Again, my favorite elopements are the ones where couples don’t do anything that doesn’t serve them. Have big, grandiose adventures, or have simple escapes. It’s up to you.
This was a quiet little elopement centered around the family pond. They stuck to a budget and some eco-conscious principles going with 100% thrifted wedding attire. From thrifted wedding dresses, secondhand boots and hiking shoes, to a yard sale jacket. They loved the miss-matched wedding dress look and wanted to show off their unique, individual styles while also echoing each other with white dresses and dark boots.
The day was full, but also simple, quiet, focused on emotional and spiritual connection rather than a time-line or set schedule. They grabbed order out Mexican food, had their private ceremony by the family pond, and ended the night with star-gazing, movies, and making dinner together.
They curled up on the ground and spent time braiding each other’s hair, laughing, and talking about their future.
Backyard elopements are my favorite way to prioritize your budget, include your family, and keep the usual stress of elopements or weddings at bay. With these elopements you don’t have to worry about a timeline, venue, or travel. You can spend your morning slow, cooking breakfast, laughing, sipping coffee with your loved one, before getting ready, preforming your ceremony, and filling the rest of your day with intimate memories, moments, and basking in your family circle.
You can also find some beautiful airbnb’s that act as a homebase for stunning backyard elopements so that you can both protect the sanctity of your home while at the same time enjoying the intimacy of an in-home elopement. This could also allow you to turn your elopement into a period of travel as a getaway, a moment of freedom, or a road trip.
Considering a backyard elopement? Even if you’re not in Tennessee, holler at me and we can cook up some magic together. Here are some great resources to pick through if you’re still on the fence about backyard elopements.
